Lesson 1: The Challenge Knot

The Challenge Knot – can you tie a knot in the middle of a rope without letting go of either end of the rope?

BEFORE you watch the video or read the instructions, pick up a piece of rope and hold one end in each hand. Try to tie a knot in the middle of the rope BUT you cannot open your hands or let go of the ends of the rope! Give it a try!

Once you’ve mastered this trick, present it as a challenge to someone else. Ask them, “Can you tie a knot in the middle of this rope without letting go of either end?”

Let them try for a few minutes and then demonstrate how it is possible!
